Honoring a Legacy. Celebrating the Game. Bringing the Community Together.
Summer 2027 | 2nd Annual Edition | Open to All Clubs | Honoring Joe Farrell's LegacyA Tournament Built on Legacy
The Joe Farrell Classic is FutsalRVA's signature summer tournament, created to honor the memory and lasting legacy of Joe Farrell, co-founder of FutsalRVA and a respected figure whose dedication, generosity, and passion for the game helped shape the Richmond soccer community.
Joe believed in the power of soccer to bring people together, create opportunities, and positively impact the lives of young athletes. His commitment to player development, community involvement, and the growth of futsal continues to inspire the values and mission of FutsalRVA.
Held annually at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, the Joe Farrell Classic brings together teams from different clubs and communities for a weekend of competitive futsal, sportsmanship, and shared passion for the game.
More than just a tournament, the event celebrates the relationships, opportunities, and sense of community that Joe helped build throughout his life.
About the Tournament
The Joe Farrell Classic is designed to provide an exciting, well-organized, and competitive summer futsal experience for teams of different ages and competitive levels.
Open to clubs and independent teams from across the region, the tournament welcomes boys' and girls' teams, as well as adult participants, creating opportunities for players to compete against opponents from outside their regular leagues.
Throughout the weekend, teams experience the speed, intensity, and technical demands of futsal in a competitive environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, quick decision-making, and confidence under pressure.
Hosted at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, the tournament combines quality indoor facilities with an atmosphere that encourages meaningful competition and enjoyment of the game.
A Tribute to Joe Farrell
As a co-founder of FutsalRVA, Joe Farrell played an important role in introducing, promoting, and growing futsal throughout the Richmond area.
Beyond his contributions to the sport, Joe was known for his commitment to people, his belief in creating opportunities for young players, and the positive relationships he built throughout the soccer community.
The Joe Farrell Classic was established to recognize those contributions and preserve his legacy through an event that reflects the values he championed: respect, sportsmanship, inclusion, community, and a genuine love for the game.
Every summer, the tournament brings players, coaches, and families together to celebrate not only the competition but also the spirit of community that Joe helped create.
A Strong Beginning
The inaugural Joe Farrell Classic took place in 2026 at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, marking the beginning of a new summer tradition for FutsalRVA.
