The FutsalRVA Boys One-Day Winter Challenge brings together boys' futsal teams for a full day of competitive, fast-paced action in a structured and well-organized tournament environment.
Designed to provide meaningful competition in a condensed format, this event gives teams the opportunity to challenge themselves against opponents of similar age and competitive level while experiencing the technical, tactical, and physical demands of futsal.
With four-team brackets, certified futsal referees, and a format where every game produces a winner, the tournament encourages players to compete with intensity, make quick decisions under pressure, and adapt to different game situations.
All tournament games and championship results are completed in a single day, providing an exciting and convenient competitive experience for teams, coaches, and families.
How the Tournament Works
The tournament follows a Round-Robin format, with four teams competing in each bracket. Every team plays against the other three teams, guaranteeing three games throughout the day.
Teams are grouped according to age and competitive level to promote balanced matchups and an appropriate level of competition.
Each game must produce a winner, with no ties permitted. Teams earn points based on their results, and the team finishing with the highest total points, after applying any necessary tiebreakers, is crowned the bracket champion.
All matches are officiated by certified futsal referees under United States Youth Futsal (USYF) rules and the tournament's competition guidelines.
Tournament Format
- Round-Robin Competition: Four teams per bracket, with each team playing every other team once.
- 3 Guaranteed Games: Every participating team plays three matches.
- No Ties: Every game must produce a winner.
- Bracket Champions: Determined by tournament standings.
- Balanced Competition: Brackets organized by age and competitive level.
- 4 Playing Courts: Supporting an organized and efficient tournament schedule.
- Certified Futsal Referees: Games officiated under USYF Futsal Rules and tournament guidelines.
- One-Day Event: All matches and championship results completed on Saturday.
Why This Format?
The Round-Robin structure ensures that every team receives equal playing opportunities, regardless of individual game results.
With four teams competing in each bracket, every team faces all three opponents, guaranteeing three meaningful games throughout the tournament.
Unlike single-elimination competitions, where one loss can end a team's participation, the Round-Robin format allows teams to continue competing, adapt to different opponents, and demonstrate consistency across multiple matches.
This format encourages competitive balance, rewards overall performance, and creates an environment where every game contributes to the final bracket standings.
